Last night was an interesting night -
it was like a dream come true. What I loved was some of the guys (Laura, Dan,
Ant and Dave +
myself and Ali) had a beer in the office after work. At first I must admit I
was thinking hmmm I am too busy – then I reflected – too busy to have a catch
up with some people I really like and spend a lot of time with. Get a hold of
yourself Jim!! It was great on a number of levels however the part I loved
the most was I felt like I was in Apple, Facebook or Google in their early
days, companies I love to learn about where they spent time out of ‘normal
hours’ to talk about life, the business and what was going down. I learnt loads and there were some great ideas shared. The
conversations ranged from how to inspire young people, the power of OKR's
(thanks Dan), having a performance dashboard we give out weekly, keeping the
office tidy, Dave’s band, remuneration, setting high standards, changing the
world and what is work life balance really. I learnt so much from last night and it all
started with some of the guys (was it Dan or Laura?) saying shall we get some
beers.... Awesome
